Located in GUILIN, the world famous scenic historical city, Guilin University of Electronic Technology named as GUET for short is founded in 1960, and jointly sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defense and the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. GUET is also one of the nominated universities of“National Basic Ability Construction Project for Western and Central China” and a key public university of Guangxi.

GUET owns 4 campuses: Jinjiling Campus, Liuhelu campus, Huajiang Campus, and Beihai Campus, covering an area of 680 acres.

GUET has built one of the largest libraries in China with 45,000 square meters, 2.19 million books, 39,000 kinds of Chinese and foreign journals and 90 databases. It is equipped with advanced internet information platforms and excellent environment for learning.

GUET has 17 colleges which ran 71 bachelor programs and 32 master programs. GUET also has 5 PhD programs for first level discipline and 3 post PhD academic research station. There are over 3200 teachers and staff, and about 43000 students.

GUET pays so much attention to the cultivation of the students’ practical ability that the students have gained lots of prizes in various competitions such as National College Students Electronic Design Competition, National Internet Plus Competition as well as Mathematical Modeling, including the Gold Medal for National Internet Plus Competition and the highest award of National College Students Electronic Design Competition--SONY cup.

At present, GUET has established good cooperative relationships with more than 80 universities and academic institutions in Asia, Europe, the Americas, Oceania and Africa. GUET selects and sponsors its outstanding teachers and students go abroad for a short or long term academic visit every year. GUET also recruits foreign students and is authorized with “Chinese Government Scholarship”, “Silk Road Scholarship”, “Special Scholarships for Chinese and American Students” and “Guangxi Government Full Scholarship for ASEAN Students”. Currently, there are 609 international students from over 39 countries and regions studying in GUET.
